Conference Theme:ESP Studies from a Decade On: Innovations, Challenges and Prospects
Conference Background
AESP & CESP invite you to join its 2019 annual conference to be held in Chongqing University from 15 to 17 Nov. 2019. International scholars and practitioners are welcome to share your recent work and discuss how your collective efforts can advance the future of English for Specific Purposes. The conference will feature pre-conference workshops, distinguished international plenary speeches and panel discussions.
Since the first“ESP in Asia”international conference which was held in Chongqing University in 2008, Asia ESP and China ESP studies have gone through a rapid development. In the past decade, the annual “ESP in Asia” has played its important role in promoting the launch of China ESP Committee and the establishment of Asia ESP Association in 2016. The annual“ESP in Asia”international conference was then substituted by Asia ESP International Conference.
Conference Objective and Scope
The theme of the 3rd Annual Conference of Asia ESP & the 8th Chinese National Symposium on ESP“ESP Studies from a Decade On: Innovations, Challenges and Prospects”allows a wide range of interpretations, thus taking into account the varied interests and approaches within the ESP community. Through innovative practices, it will explore who we are, what we do and how we can collectively transform perceptions and understandings in current ESP studies and teaching.
We encourage proposals from all scholars involved in ESP and would be particularly pleased to receive papers from all members of the AESP Association and CESP committee, from those working collaboratively across disciplines, from those involved in staff and student support, policy making and from students themselves. The major interests can be as follows:

Guidelines for Submissions:Pre-conference
1. Abstracts, panel or workshop proposals may be accepted.
▪ Abstract, 200-400 words in English, including positions, affiliations, email addresses and mailing addresses for all authors.
▪ Panel proposals reflecting the conference theme may be submitted. All panel proposals should provide a 300-word rationale and a 100-200 word abstract of each panelist's paper, including affiliation and email address for each panelist.
▪ Workshop proposals relevant to the conference theme may be submitted. Proposals should be 3-5 pages in length, and single-spaced.
